Conservation scientists agree: serious loss of biodiversity to come

More than 99% of conservation scientists are expecting a major loss of biological diversity in coming years, according to a new survey.

The vast majority of scientists interviewed believe the loss of biological diversity worldwide is being accelerated by human activities. Most scientists also argued that understanding interactions between people and nature is a priority if ecosystems are to be maintained in future.

Tropical coral ecosystems were seen by respondents as the most seriously affected by a loss of biological diversity.
