Doing the causality time warp

If you know two things are causally related, you also expect them to be close in time - this can distort our perception of time.

Psychologists tested this theory by having people predict when they anticipated a target light would flash.

When participants (or a machine) pressed a button before the light flashed, they would anticipate the light would flash sooner, than if there was no preceding action (just a signal light).
