‘Nanodynamite’ could power small systems

Nanotubes are excellent conductors of heat and can generate electric currents. It’s a discovery that could allow fuel-coated nanotubes to provide power to small systems.

By coating a carbon nanotube with nitro-cellulose fuel and igniting one end, scientists created a combustion wave.

The power generated in relation to the size of the energy source is three to four times what is currently possible with lithium-ion batteries.
