Alexis is a Dentist with a Masters degree in Public Health from Cambridge University (UK). She is a fellow of the NSW Public Health Officer Training Program, working towards a Professional Doctorate in Public Health with the University of New South Wales, and a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Alexis' research interests include public oral health, climate change and health, and active travel especially cycling.

Alexis co-convenes of the Oral Health Special Interest Group of the Public Health Association of Australia, and is involved in advocating and promoting the importance of oral health services.
