Peter Horton

Dr Peter Horton has taught in schools and universities in the UK, Australia and Singapore. Upon finishing his representative sporting career, he played for the Wallabies from 1974-9, he undertook a decade of further study, after which he lectured at QUT and Griffith University. In 1993 he took up an appointment at the School of Physical Education at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. There he was instrumental in elevating sport studies at NTU-SPE. He was also engaged in the establishment of the Singapore Olympic Academy.

He has written a number of definitive articles on the history of sport in Singapore. He returned to Australia in 1999, and in 2000 took up his current position at James Cook University, where he is a Fellow of the Cairns Institute and Senior Lecturer in the School of Education. In 2000 Dr. Horton was a member of the IOC Olympic Report writing panel for the Sydney Olympics and in 2003 he was a regional Rugby Services Manager for the Rugby World Cup in Australia. He is a member of International Editorial Board and two regional boards of the International Journal of the History of Sport.

Naturally, he is a sport tragic.
