Terry Slevin is one of Australia's most experienced experts and commentators on public health research, chronic disease prevnetion and health promotion.

He is a regular media commentator on public health policy and cancer issues from the causes and early detection of cancer, to broader chronic disease prevention issues including tobacco control, nutrition, physical activity, weight control, alcohol, sun protection and cancer myths.

He is CEO of the Public Health Association of Austrlia, a member based leading non government organisation focusing on achieving improvement in public helth in Australia. He was previously Director, Education and Research at The Cancer Council WA from 1994 until April 2018, Mr Slevin holds a Masters in Public Health and an Honours degree in Psychology. He is Adjunct Professor in the School of Psychology at Curtin University and an Adjunct Professor at the College of Health and Medicine at the Australian National Univerity. He was previously Vice President of the Public Health Association of Austrlia and is a fellow of the PHAA. He is Co Chair of the Scientific Committee for the UICC's World Cancer Congress in Kuala Lumpur in October 2018.

He was founding chair of Cancer Council Australia’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Committee and the Colaition for Gun Control in WA. He has served as Chair of the National Skin Cancer Committee and the Occupational and Environmental Cancer Committeer for Cancer Council Australia. He Edited a book on skin cancer for CSIRO Publishing in 2014 titled "Sun Skin and Health" and has jointly published more than 60 papers in the peer reviewed literature on public health, health promotion and cancer control.

He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served on the Board of the Health Promotion Foundation of WA (Healthway) and the Neurological Council of WA.
