There are four types of drinkers, researchers say

Researchers have come up with four common “drinking types”: the initiator, the follower, the moderator and the protector.

The researchers conducted in-depth interviews with an online community of drinkers. This was followed by an online survey of 2,500 Victorians on the factors that influenced their drinking behaviour.

The team analysed this data for emerging, common themes and concluded that drinkers generally fell into one of the four categories.

This research has now been turned into an online quiz aimed at empowering people to become responsible drinkers.
