Playing violent video games for hours on end can change young men’s brains, including parts that control emotions and agressive behaviour.
Two groups of adult males, aged 18 to 29, with low past exposure to violent video games, were studied. The first group played a shooting video game for a week, while the second group acted as the control.
After brain scans, researchers found reduced activity in the areas of the brain associated with cognitive function and emotional control.
