X-rays of the moon have shown that, unlike Earth, our rocky satellite has no active volcanos, and hasn’t for billions of years.

The scientists melted down rocks taken from the Apollo missions at extremely high pressures and measured their densities with high-powered x-ray beams.

The x-rays also found a large concentration of titanium magma under the lunar surface.
