Making some noise for quantum computers

The main difficulty standing in the way of building quantum computers could soon be the thing that makes it possible to build them.

Typically, disturbance, or “noise”, prevents quantum computers from operating accurately. But researchers have found that in a controlled environment, noise can actually be used to improve the accuracy of a quantum computer.

Quantum computers would allow us to solve problems too difficult for current, “classical” computers.
