A world record has been set for the conversion of sunlight into electricity using a newly designed solar cell structure.
Researchers in Germany have developed a solar cell structure that uses four solar subcells, converting 44.7% of the solar spectrum’s energy into electricity.
The same team of scientists had set the previous conversion record in May, achieving a 44.6% rate of efficiency.
The new technology will be particularly effective for solar power plants located in sun drenched regions.
