Dr Agata Mrva-Montoya worked for over 15 years in scholarly and educational book publishing, commissioning and project-managing a wide range of non-fiction titles, producing ebooks and implementing accessible publishing practices. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication at the University of Sydney. Her research explores innovation, technology and power in the publishing industry. She seeks to align her practice-based research projects with her interest and experience with accessibility, design thinking and digital technologies, in the belief that publishing has an important role to play in creating a better, more equal and sustainable society. She has published on the impact of digital technologies and new business models on scholarly communication and the book publishing industry in general. Her current research projects focus on two key areas: inclusive/accessible publishing and scholarly communication.
