Claire Parfitt is a Lecturer in political economy at the University of Sydney.
Claire completed her doctorate, "Ethics as an accumulation strategy: Risk and value in a speculative moral economy", in the Department of Political Economy in 2020. A critical engagement with ethical investing strategies, this research contributed to debates in the social studies of finance, moral philosophy, economic geography, cultural economy, intellectual property and interdisciplinary accounting literatures.
During the last two decades Claire has worked at the intersection of corporate accountability and socio-ecological justice, both within the academy and outside, looking at the places where capital is the most dynamic and the politics of accumulation present the greatest tensions. Most recently she has worked as a Senior Researcher and Strategist for the Centre for International Corporate Tax Accountability and Research.
