Dr Hepworth is a graphic designer and a teacher.

During her PhD, Dr Hepworth developed a method for utilising graphic design artefacts as key evidence in political histories. To test this method, she wrote a history of governance in Victoria, from settlement to the present day, using local government logos, crests and seals from around the State as primary source material. Her research highlights the political and ideological significance of material culture. Doctor Hepworth’s Discursive Method provides a framework for future generations of historians to examine the political and ideological significance advertising, branding and other designed materials over time.
