Magdalena Simonis

Clinical associate professor, The University of Melbourne

Magdalena is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, holds a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Masters degree in Health and Human Services. Her career objectives include a commitment to disease prevention and health equity.

Her interests include Medical Advocacy, Gender Equity, Climate Change impacts on health. She a government health advisor, leading women’s health expert and on the National Expert Advisory Group for the Endometriosis Action Plan. She is also on the Technical Expert Advisory Group to review the regulation of Cosmetic Surgery and Board Director of the Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics (MTHC) University of Melbourne and Breast Cancer Network Australia Strategy and Policy member.
Magdalena is the elected Australian Medical Association Federal Council Representative for General Practice,Magdalena is President for the Australian Federation of Medical Women, Inaugural Chair Mentoring and Leadership Group of the Medical Women’s International Association and on the RACGP Expert Committee for Quality Care.
In 2023 she was honoured on the King’s Birthday Honour’s list with a Medal of the Order (AM) for significant service to medicine and women’s health.
Assoc. Prof Simonis was also named on the 2023 Kings Birthday COVID-19 honour roll.
