Dr. Rebecca Williams is Senior Lecturer in Communication, Culture and Media Studies in the Division of Media at the University of South Wales. She completed her PhD, a comparative study of online TV fans and their use of fandom to perform identity work at Cardiff University, and also has a Masters in Critical and Cultural Theory from the School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University and a BA (First Class Honours) in Journalism, Film, and Broadcasting from the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, Cardiff University.
Rebecca currently teaches modules on Digital Media & Society, Media Audiences & Fandom, Media & Culture in Wales, and Media Production: Critical Analysis. Her current research interests include local celebrity, fan practice in the era of post-object fandom, and place and space in television horror. She recently completed the edited collection “Torchwood: Declassified” and writing a monograph entitled ‘Post-Object Fandom: Television, Identity and Self-Narrative’ to be published in 2015 by Bloomsbury.
