Professor, Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria

I have been a professor in Management Information Systems for the past 13 years. I am now at the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria (Canada). The focus of my work is on organizational and social perspectives related to emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on the intersection of technology and marketing. Currently, I work on research on “the Dark Side of Social Media”, “Deepfakes”, and generally speaking, how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning impact firms. As an author, I am probably best-known for my award-winning article “Social media? Get serious!” in Business Horizons, where I now also serve as an Associate Editor. I commonly advise start ups and work with legal firms to change the legislation for new tech-type companies in British Columbia.
