Matthew Abunyewah

Research Fellow, The Australasian Centre for Resilience Implementation for Sustainable Communities, Charles Darwin University

I hold an honours degree in development planning (first class) and a PhD in urban planning and sustainability from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana) and the University of Newcastle (UON), respectively. Previously, I have worked as a research coordinator for local NGOs such as Rural Aid Alliance Foundation and Nature Aid Ghana, as well as Industry Skills Advisory Council NT. I have also worked with the NT government as a senior project and policy officer, leading policy formulation and implementation on circular economy, industry and business development, disaster resilience and sustainability.

I also hold a certificate in quantitative research methods from the Australian Consortium for social and political research (ACSPRI). I employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate emerging issues in informal urbanism, disaster management, climate change, circular economy and sustainability.
