Oliver Metcalf is a conservation scientist with interests spanning ornithology, ecoacoustics, tropical ecology, and land-use change. He has a broad range of experience, having worked as an ecological consultant and ornithological surveyor across the UK. Having completed a PHD studying the use of acoustic monitoring and machine-learning to increase our understanding of Amazonian fauna he is continuing active research in the field, in particular how deep-learning techniques can aid with detection of rare species.
